Kathreen McPhee is my fav in American Idol Season 5 - love her voice, sexy and pretty too. I was shocked to read some news about her health...hahahaha..that's what mostly sick with american girls. They are just too conscious with the way they looked, but did not mind of the way they see life nor their own personalities... but its not yet too late, everyone deserves to be given a second chance to change... here goes the news...

In a new interview with People magazine, the fifth season runner-up reveals that she struggled with severe bulimia for five years, bingeing, and purging in a destructive cycle that could have permanently ruined her singing voice and caused devastating consequences to her health.

At her worst, McPhee says she was making herself vomit up to seven times each day, which she equates to "putting a sledgehammer to your vocal cords."

But all that changed once the 22-year-old aspiring singer got the go-ahead from the Idol judges, and realized that in order to succeed on the talent search, she would need to rein in her eating disorder.

"When I made it onto American Idol, I knew that food--my eating disorder--was the one thing really holding me back," McPhee tells People. "I was bingeing my whole life away for days at a time...So when I got on the show, I said, 'You know what? I can do well in this competition. Let me give myself a chance and just get ahold of this thing.'"

Backed up by her parents, frequent Idol audience members Peisha and Daniel McPhee, the Idol hopeful enrolled in an intensive treatment program at Los Angeles's Eating Disorder Center Of California, where she underwent three months of group and individual therapy, spending 10 hours a day, six days a week at the center.

"I really had to surrender and give up having a free life to do the program, because I'd be there from 9 in the morning until 7 at night," McPhee says. But she knew the sacrifice was necessary if she wanted to get well.

"I knew I had put off going to a treatment center long enough--I'd been struggling with bulimia since I was 17," she says.

McPhee attributes some of her problems with food to growing up in a city where tremendous emphasis is placed on celebrity-slim bodies.

"Growing up in Los Angeles and spending all those years in dance class, I'd been conscious of body image at a young age, and I went through phases of exercising compulsively and starving myself," she says.

By using the intuitive eating approach she learned at the Eating Disorder Center, McPhee was eventually able to redefine her relationship to food.

"I learned that there's no such thing as a bad food," she says. "If you look at a doughnut, people think it's a fattening food--why? Because if you eat it you'll get fat? No, you'll get fat if you eat 10 doughnuts."

As a result, she dropped 30 pounds and broke her cycle of bingeing and purging.

"That's why I say American Idol saved my life, because if I hadn't auditioned I don't think I would have gotten a handle on food," she tells the magazine.

By openly talking about her eating disorder, McPhee stands to help fans who may be struggling with similar issues, according to Dr. Thomas Weigel, a psychiatrist at the Klarman Eating Disorders Center at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts.

"Katharine's portrayal of her eating disorder and its effects on her life would tend toward helping people suffering with eating disorders to seek out treatment," Weigel said.

"She had a problem, which was affecting her career, and she went through a difficult treatment program to make progress toward recovery. It was hard work, but she fought against the eating disorder to get her life back."

And what a life it is. After the Idol finale, McPhee went on to sign a record deal with RCA Records in conjunction with 19 Recordings Limited.

Her first single, "My Destiny," coupled with "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," is scheduled for release on Tuesday. As of Thursday, the tracks were ranked number 52 in music by Amazon.com.
Though the Idol competition is officially over, McPhee's still got her work cut out for her if she hopes to catch up to Taylor Hicks, who released his first single last week and instantly rocketed to the top of the charts.

A Father's Day

0
COM
Third week of June is the celebration of a Father's Day all over the world. This is a very special day for the "haligi ng tahanan". Its a rainy sunday here, as we celebrated the father's day last sunday, since my papa and mama went home. And we decided to celebrate it while they are here. Everyone is celebrating and giving gifts and telling how much they mean their father's for them. But do we really know exactly what does it really mean??? I've researched and found this information on the net.
=================
In the dictionary a father is a man who begets or raises a child. Today let's honor those who nurture and raise their children. We would do well to ignore the shrill accusations of that small group of women who label all men as being oppressive, overbearing and insensitive simply because they are men. Why? Because this nation has a host of fathers who are responsible and caring and their families are doing very well indeed. They love their wives and children and are loved in return.
Many of them follow the teachings of Jesus who chose to identify God himself as the Heavenly Father. In what might be the world's most popular story of all time Jesus described the traits of the ideal father. The story is generally called "The Prodigal Son." but If you will reread it in Luke 15:11-24 it will become clear that Jesus is identifying the father as God and the wayward son as each and every one of us. The traits of the father in the story stand out clearly as follows:

A good provider, owning a large farm with hired laborers and an abundance of material possessions with which to care for his family.
A generous spirit, giving his son his inheritance before his own death.
A deep concern for the welfare of his son who chose to take his wealth and leave home for places unknown.
A forgiving father who accepted his son, now broke and repentant, back into the family circle.
A loving father who ran to his son, embraced and kissed him and had a banquet to celebrate his return home.

In recent years the importance of the role of the father has been questioned but numerous studies prove that the Father's role is as important as that of the mother. You don't have to review the research to verify this fact. Ask the mother of any successful family and if doubts still linger, ask the single mother who is struggling to fill the role of both father and mother.
Yes, today is the day set aside to honor the many fathers who provide, however modestly, for their families, who are generous, who care deeply for their wives and children, who rejoice when the children learn from their mistakes, and who express their affection freely. If you ask you will also find that most of them get their strength from the relationship they enjoy with their Heavenly Father. As we observe Father's Day, let us pray that the next great revival in America will be for more fathers who fill their roles after the example of the Heavenly Father.

He provides us with an earth rich in resources; enough for everyone.
He gives us the freedom to make use of all that he has provided.
He is concerned for our welfare more deeply then we can imagine.
He forgives us when we repent of our many mistakes and accepts us back into full fellowship with Him and His family.
He blesses us every day with his love because, as the apostle John pointed out, "God Is Love."

After the Ocular Visit, the New President sent memos to have a suspension of classes and office all Marist Campus. Due to the preparations and everything, I guess everyone deserves to have a time off. To regain the strenght..hehehe..we have a positive response from the commissioners, they just can't declared it right there and then because they were only two of them. But they gave us the assurance that by 26th of June there will be 2 Universities here in GenSan. I shouldn't be telling this to you, before the final annoucement but I just can't shut my mouth for the excitement and for all the hirap nga amoang natagamtaman...hehehe...have a wonderful weekend.

Rondalla in the lobby, they are all prepared to entertain the commissioners

This is what lobby looked like...

Everyone is just too busy waiting for the commissioners...with all the filipiniana attire

After days of days of preparations for the Ocular Visit, finally has come. Everyone is excited and tense of what and how would it looked like when they get here. The commissioners and other official CHED arrived in NDDC around 10:30am. We did expect them as earlier than that, but because of this nature things, we can't control of the time changes. The chairman did not make it to go with them, instead they have other representative from commissioners. When they got in the campus, with all the Rondalla, welcoming them, as if like NDDC have a fiesta for them. Ceremony were held at covered Court, with all the decorations, red carpet and the PNP Band. They were really amazed of the warmed welcome we did for them. Everyone is excited because we do really expected that by that time they are going to declared NDDC as a University. But because they dont really have all the power to say it, they gave us hope to continue to pray for the application of the University. Its a positive response from the commissioners because they have seen, all the recommendations, programs and the standards of the school were complied and implemented. We'll just wait for the decision on the higher education in regards to our application. At least, things are back to a little bit normal now...

Above were the 2 Commissioners and some CHED Officials and other guest representative to evaluation NDDC.

What is This University Ocular Visit?

0
COM
Okay, lately as I have mentioned on my past blogs that I've been or we [my company] very busy with the preparations on this University Ocular Visit. Last week, the involved committee just met of what are things to be done and for the preparations during that day. On how we make the Commissioners, Chairman, CHED Officials, and Guests comfortable in school and on our hospitality. They are coming over to inspect, and hopefully Notre Dame of Dadiangas College would be accepted as a University after the visit. We have done alot of things for the preparations, from the Academic up to Support Service Personnels. All over Notre Dame concern. We did apply for a University Status before and some Heads already visited the school. Finally, the Chairman of CHED from Manila will visit the place and with Commissioners with him. They even expected from us like a feast, or shall I say more than that. They wanted Red Carpet, Band, Rondalla, with all the ka-itchusan talaga...as in sobra... we did not expect to be like this...This 15th of June 2006, would be scary for everyone. Although, things will never be that perfect and never we expected hopefully, things will just go smoothly....
Pray for US.....hehehehe

Last saturday, I have decided to re-arranged my room, because I'm the only girl at home left. I wanted to make my room on its new looked and comfortable, although I am comfortable with the old arragement. Change the aura of it, so that things will come smoothly and yes it is. Without my mother's concent, the double deck I have inside were cut-off into two. And putted the first/top bed on the other room, which is my brother's room. Cleaned here, there and even the salas, it started like 3pm in the afternoon and we ended like 9pm. Of course, with my younger brother's help. I can't lift up the bed all by myself, i'm not superman, nor rouge in the X-men. So I posted here the before and after of my room:

Moreover, after a tireful saturday evening. Staff of where I worked, had planned a week ago for this what we call "RNR" which means - Rest and Relaxation. We went to Gumasa Beach, yes! in Glan. I've been there with my family last month, and now I'm with my co-employee. We are only 27 or less than that. We have a lot of fun and I enjoyed taking pictures with the scenery too. taking advantage with my new phone which have a good pixels...
