9th of January 2008, is the Islamic New Year, based on their calendar too, that means in respect of their celebration and as the observance of Amun Jadid [Islamic New Year] falls on 9th of January corresponding to 1st day of Muharram 1429 Hijra. Amun Jadid is considered and recognized as legal Muslim Holiday by virtue of PD 1083 and Civil Service Commission Resolution No. 81, 1277 dated November 13, 1981. To support this day they allow the concerned officials and employees to celebrate the said holiday.
