How to fix iPhone in Headphone Mode

0
COM
I never have problem with my iPhone before, even if I did? I resolved it immediately. Yesterday, I accidentally plunged my phone in the snow and didn’t notice that due to that fall it causes me a minor hitch. Whew!!! I’m lucky still as it didn’t contain some major problem or I will be switching instantaneously (just kidding, as if I have extra).

I found a few simple and quickest ways to resolve this problem.

Step 1:
Gather a q-tip, or a tissue.

Step 2:
Make sure to clean the headphone socket carefully. If Q-tip is too big, make sure you take some of the cotton or adjust in order to be fitted in the headphone socket. Or use the tissue make a small folding or twist that would fit into that headphone socket. Leave it the tissue for a while and then try playing music or a video. You should be able to hear to the music with the volume.

Step 3:
After you have done those simple steps and the ringer plays, means the issue is fixed.

There is another way to try if the above procedure didn't work;

Step 1:
Go to your sound settings, and played random ringer tones. While doing so turned the volume up and down multiple times. This might turn the settings back from headphone mode to volume.

(This procedure didn't work for me) That's why cleaning your headphone socket might be the first things you should do, if your iPhone stuck in headphone mode.

I hope through this simple and quick procedure it helps resolve the issue.

DIY Raised Bed for this year

0
COM
This year my husband and I have decided that we are going to make another raise bed in our garden. This would expand our vegetable garden this year and would make have enough room for the rest of the vegetables that we are planting for this year.

Earlier during Spring, they bought pressurized wood, more nails/screws, black plastic that would go to the bottom and of course more than 5 sacks of garden soils.

He mixed the garden soil with some dry leaves compose and fills the raised bed all the way. Before that happened, this was it looks like after they finished the raised bed.

Later, I will share in another post about the filled the raised bed as well as the plants we have planted in there.

DIY your own raised bed is cheaper and you will know it will last much longer because you have the opportunity to use a much better materials.

Wood garden fence

COM
I decided to barricade my flowers from the grass and weeds by putting a wooden garden fence along with it. I started to dig up the edges so when I install the wood to keep it in place no matter what.
The portion on where I lined and dug up

Of course,  because our ground has more gravel in it, sometimes it’s hard to dig up without heating big rocks.
Finally, it is fitted to the hole I dug up
Since I am persistent to finish the line I decided to dig up after rain, when the ground is soft although it’s muddy.
This view is at the front
Part of the front has a wood garden fence now, I have to make sure that I  clear the rocks so it’ll be better to look at.

DIY Pocket Cloth Diaper #crafts #sewing

COM
If you have noticed in my other blogs, I have been mentioning about my handmade products for my children. I have to say, it's more customized and cheaper and even more durable because I know the right kind of materials to use, without spending a fortune for one single merchandise.

This time I also make my son's Pocket Cloth Diaper. For those who  are aware of Cloth diapers you know what I am talking about. Fortunately, I started my son and decided to cloth diaper him when he was 5 months old.
Laid the PUL and Microfleece cloth..ready for sewing

My ever first pocket cloth diaper

At first it was difficult to sew something new, later on after I finished 3 pieces of cloth diapers things becomes easier.

If not being interrupted, I can accomplish at least 5 pieces of cloth diapers in an hour, that includes cutting, putting the snaps and more.

Quite easy now and I'm getting addicted to the sewing machine too, getting used of how it works for me is even better.

Equipment you need to easily paint a ceiling

6
COM
Painting your a ceiling needs a thorough estimation if you are not a professional who wants to do-it-yourself,  just like what my husband and I did for the ceiling of the permanent house we live now.

Before that happens, the house had a drop ceiling which we really thought is not a good idea, especially when the place is about 50 years old and needed updated and some maintenance.

We decided to remove the drop ceiling and place drywall in its place instead. We had to level the ceiling and install the wiring for the lights before we painted the color we chose. It took a while to fix it, hence made it much easier to paint when that was done.  If you are not comfortable with it, a quick call from http://www.lakeside-hire.co.uk/ would save you some time.

There are at least 2 different kinds of painting we did for the two different ceilings we have in this home.

The upstairs was still in great shape, yet we just needed to seal some gaps between the drywall to make it look even better. We did a primer coat to smooth out the ceiling; adjusting the coat on the drywall before we paint will make the ceiling sparkle and glisten after the coat of paint has been applied.

Before I start the checklist of the equipment you need to easily paint a ceiling. I have to let you know that my husband and I were not professionals. An awesome DIY idea we found while searching online is what inspired us to tweak things out.

Tape measure - This would help you measure the walls first so you will know how much paint to buy. Typically, one gallon of paint covers 400 square feet.

Primer - Use a primer with a stain blocker. This is very useful, especially with an old ceiling and you don't want any stains to be seen, it helps covers them.

Stirrer - Usually comes free with any paint purchase. Another useful item as you should always stir paint before applying.

Roller tray - Use a metal or sturdy plastic tray for smaller project. Also a plastic one comes very handy as well as save you time to clean up.

Roller and roller handles - Make sure you have a few extra in case you have different colors you want to paint the ceilings. Some handles are nice in case it is hard to reach! As for us, we decided to go with white so it would be easier to match up to the color of the walls we pick.

Tray liner - To save cleanup time we used a disposable paint-tray liner. Easy to dispose when you are done. Also cheaper this way.

Roller cover - A 3/8-inch nap provides the best finish for most interior walls. A 3/8-inch for “smooth wall”, 1/2-inch for textured, 3/4-inch to 1 1/4-inch nap required for heavy texture or painting a popcorn ceiling.

Angled sash paintbrush - To paint trim, use a two-inch angled brush, which will give you more control.

Blue painter’s tape - Essential for protecting trim or walls that you don’t want to get paint on.

Drop cloths - Protect furniture with plastic coverings. Place a reusable canvas drop cloth, which is less slippery than plastic, on the floor.

Sponge - Before priming, wash the walls with a few drops of dishwashing detergent mixed with water.

Step ladder or stool - this would help you reach the highest area and it would be easier for you to paint them conveniently.

Paint  - many colors to choose from!

It is very fun to have a DIY accomplished, especially something new and challenging. It makes you feel like you have done great things with the help of researching as well as learning something from it.

This list of equipment hopes to give you guidelines if you start to paint up your own ceilings at home.

DIY - flower bed

4
COM
The husband was planning to do something in our mudroom doorway that would prevent water from running down the mudroom whenever there are heavy rains. He finished the first steps to ensure everyone who enters and exits the home would no longer have trouble on their way in and out.

It is also a great help during winter when everything is slippery, that by having a better step would prevent someone from slipping.

The next that he built was the flower bed, intending to help the water again for coming in the mudroom. So he blocks the part where it possibly leads the water inside.

It took him days to build and finished the flower bed, as he only spare a 1-2 hours at least every day after work.

Now, I planted an annual flower in which I will be planning to put a calla lily there soon that way, I don't need to keep replanting and do the maintenance once it is all settle in.

DIY - Raise Bed and my Garden

0
COM
One thing I told my husband to build me this summer is a raised bed. We do have the garden where his Grandmother used to plant her vegetables, but for some reasons my plants never grow as good as I wanted them to be.

I have a strong feeling that it might need more sunlight, which is better now that we cut down those trees that blocking the sunlight. Another thing is that the ground is 101% gravel. Imagine it must be a very strong roots that can survive to grow in a gravel ground.

I get dismayed after the 2 summer season that I have never had a successful planting. Some vegetables grew more and actually bear fruits others could not even grow bigger due to the lack of sunlight and may be due to the gravel ground.

I told my other half, that if we don't make a raised bed, and no enough sunlight in where the garden is located, I will stop planting.

I'm glad he listened, after spending few bucks on it, he finally built me a raised bed. Put garden soil, manure and of course top soil.

I can smile now while watching and checking our plants, for it to grow in time, some were ready to picks while others need to wait a little bit longer. Next year, we plan to build 2-3 more raised bed and get rid of those big branches that blocks the sunlight in that area.

Ideas of an indoor landscape

COM
This is good inspiration for those who have 4 season weather countries, and have precious plants which comes from tropical areas that needs to be kept inside the house during cold weather to thwart the plants from dying.

It's pleasant to have them within your home, to release more oxygen in the residence in exchange of the carbon dioxide that we discharge. However, we must ensure that our living room, or kitchen or which part of the house we put them in must look organized and nice too in order to prevent from a clutter look locale.

Have a few ideas on how you can relate an indoor landscaping as well as to make your potted plants and yourself comfortable temporarily. I hope that his images would inspire you to find spots for your indoor plants inside your home.

A Shower of Sparks – Essential Protective Measures Every Welder Must Take

5
COM
Welding doesn’t necessarily have to be dangerous. As long as you think about what you’re doing and use the right equipment then you should be able to minimize the risks. It’s important to get the right welding supplies (safety and other) for the job in hand. So what protection do you need for your next job?

Welding Helmets
There’s a good chance that you’ll be wearing your helmet for long periods of time, so comfort is going to be important. Look for ergonomically designed helmets that meet appropriate safety standards. It’s also a good idea to go for a helmet that has a high-impact rating as you’ll inevitably drop the thing at some point and you don’t want a helmet that’s going to shatter like a piece of glass the first time you drop it. Check out the lens technology used in the visor and whether the helmet has auto-darkening technology; an essential feature for reducing corneal flash burn (also known as welder’s flash or arc eye). You can head to sites like WIA to see a range of welding safety supplies and equipment.

Respirators
Everyone needs to breathe, even when they’re in the middle of a welding job so it makes sense to look at buying your respirator and helmet as one package – and this way you’re likely to save time and money during the shopping process. This option also ensures that the respirator will actually fit the helmet (a surprisingly common problem when buying the two separately). Ideally you want a respirator that has dual air speeds for comfort in different working conditions. It’s also important to check how long the battery is going to last on a single charge because it’s no good buying a cheap respirator that needs charging every ten minutes - and while you’re at it, look at how long it’s going to take for the battery to charge. Like the helmet, you’ll be wearing the respirator for long periods of time, so ensure it’s fitted with a comfortable harness that distributes the weight evenly.

Gloves, overalls and boots
Personal protection equipment (PPE) is essential when welding and it’s not something where cheap is necessarily best. Buying quality PPE is vital. It’s that simple. Ideally gloves should be made from quality leather and sewn with heat-resistant thread. They should also be fully lined with thumb and knuckle guards as standard. Be sure to check that reinforced palms are included as these areas are usually the first to go. It’s practically a guarantee that the one inch of skin that’s exposed will be the one place where the spark or splash landing. Ensure complete protection with all over, flame-retardant overalls. You may want to go for ones with internal knee-pads if your work requires a lot of kneeling. It’s never a good idea to weld wearing open-toed sandals. A rogue spark or splash can easily cause a painful burn so get some steel-capped work boots; these will also protect you from the pain of a crushed toe if you happen to drop your welding torch.

What tools do you swear by to complete a welding job? Leave your suggestions in the comments below.

Establishing a Budget for Your Home Remodel

0
COM
When it comes to remodeling your home, it’s absolutely essential that you make sure you have a sound and realistic budget before you get started. While you might not like the idea of having to budget for every single aspect of your remodel, you, your home, and your finances are sure to appreciate it in the long run.

When You Wish Upon a List
As you first start planning your remodel, don’t focus on the price of what you want. Write down everything that you desire to do and buy no matter how expensive or extravagant it might be. As you’re making your wish list, make sure you are specific as possible. If you want a spa-like bathroom, what specific spa elements are you going for? Be creative, yet practical.
Shape Your Budget
Once you've written down your dream home remodel plan, take a long and honest look at your current and future financial reserves. Do you have the money for that cheery wood door you've got your eye on? If you don’t have all of the money you need, consider adjusting your remodel to something that you can afford. If after the second draft you find that you still can’t fully fund your remodel, you may want to get a few of the bare necessities, like toilets, and start saving up for the rest so that your home can at least start to look and feel new.

Know Your Prices
Get a solid grasp of how much everything is going to cost you. And that doesn’t mean just your couches, doors, wall paneling, and the kitchen backsplash, you also want to leave room for contractors, fees, and going over your budget. Plan and save up for as many contingencies as you can to protect yourself and your finances.

Put Your Priorities in Order
After you’ve got an idea of how much everything is going to cost you, start prioritizing your remodel. If you plan on revamping your entire home, which rooms need to be done first and which can wait? Will you need to take care of a few maintenance items before you get started? If so, how much will those cost and how long will they take? It’s always best to over-budget just to give yourself come cushioning in case prices start adding up to more than you originally bargained on, as they most likely will.

Be smart, sensible, and realistic when it comes to creating a budget for your home remodel. Realize where you can cut corners and where you should go all out for the sake of quality and safety.

Is it Time to Build your Dream Home?

6
COM
To build or not to build, that is the question! Are you thinking about building your home, but want to know a little more about what’s involved? Well, you’ve come to right place. Read on for some key things to factor into your decision on whether to build or not.

Cost
Obviously there are less than reputable builders out there who will endeavour to get as much money out of you as possible. We’ve all seen the shows on TV exposing this type of tradesperson. However, there are also very experienced and reputable companies who focus entirely on home construction, such as http://www.coralhomes.com.au. Companies like this offer fixed price contracts so you know exactly what you’re getting (right down to the door knobs) for your financial outlay. This is a great ‘no surprises’ way to build and you’ll also know exactly when your new home will be completed by.

Additionally, new homes often offer better value for money. For example, by choosing a house and land package, you could find yourself buying a four bedroom home for the cost of an existing three bedroom house. You also have the added bonus of not having to worry about any repairs or renovations for many years to come. You’ll get loads of extra space, which is always incredibly useful, especially if you’re looking to start a family or your current family is growing. Lastly, landscaping is often included in these package deals, so literally all you have to do is turn the key and open the door to your new home.

Quality
By choosing a builder who specialises in home construction, you’re benefiting from their years of experience. If you do something for long enough, you very quickly realise what works and what doesn’t. They also see first-hand what products will produce the best results and will go the distance. They will also usually have established relationships with suppliers and distributors of building products, which means they can negotiate better prices and pass the savings on to you. You’ll be surprised at just how affordable a new home costs to build and the high-end quality finishes that are included.

Customisation

Probably one of the biggest advantages to building is the opportunity to tailor your home to suit your needs and desires. Are you sick of living in homes that don’t utilise space to the maximum, have weird or outdated features, or don’t flow or function well? Imagine sitting down with a designer and choosing the layout of your home, the colours as well as all the fittings and fixtures? Sound too good to be true? Well it’s not, this is the standard process for building and it truly allows you to create the home of your dreams.

Building your own home is probably far more affordable and easier than you previously thought. It also gives you the opportunity to customise the design and layout of a house, to suit you now and into the future.

Developing a dream home or a simple home to live with is not as simple as we all think. That after we created/draw a draft of it, that's it and it will magically appear wherever we would like it to be. I do hope that this world would be the same as in the fairy tale movies, I bet living our life like one wouldn't be such a difficult as the reality.

Nevertheless, dreams do come true, as long as we have hope and work for it, sooner or later we will acquire to that dreams we have in our life. We can always start from the bottom and work on our way up, besides, that's where we should do in order to appreciate life and things even more.

And that's what my husband did, based on his experiences, he has help from his family to work his way up to where we are now. We aren't rich yet, be are contented of what life could give us for now. Owning a house isn't easy, you have to ensure that correct guidelines and laws were applied on it, after you finally think that everything is settled.
Beautifying our home, especially our yard is one of our major projects since the day we move-in to our new permanent residence. Totally have plenty of work and can't even tell where to begin.
Hence, we started by cutting huge old trees that surround the house for our safety issue and started a few DIY projects like planting flowers, garden, and even a bird feeder too. Where do we get these ideas? YardEnvy.com is where we mostly find great ideas of the development of our home. With a great collection of an outside decoration online, they also have great deals when it comes to it, too. So glad there is a website like YardEnvy.com where homeowners have great ways of finding the right decors for their yard.

5 Great Ideas to Makeover your Backyard

1
COM
Design fashions come and go, but regardless of what style you’re opting for, you need a company with the skills to achieve your visions of a perfect patio. Click here for some suggestions. Whichever company you opt for, however, there are still some great new modern features that you should be aware of when you’re designing your new patio.

1. The Secret Garden
With a clever use of screens, this paved garden area will enchant anyone who discovers it. Hidden away from the regularly used areas of your garden, this is where you’ll slip away to for a few moments of peace and tranquillity. Delicate pots of lavender and rosemary will perfume the air as you sit among the trestles of roses on a gently swinging loveseat. White and soft shades of color are the main themes in this place of dreams and quiet contemplation. Pour yourself a cup of herbal tea and withdraw to a special place. Children are barred. Possibly partners too.

2. The Outdoor Kitchen
You can’t just drag your BBQ over to the patio area and call it an outdoor kitchen. It’ll take a bit of effort, but it’s well worth it to have a sink with running water, an expansive fridge and some gas-fuelled burners. With this fully-equipped kitchen you’ll find yourself outside more and more, and there’s the added bonus of not messing up the kitchen indoors! Bringing the inside to the outside gets everyone excited and willing to help at mealtimes, but be prepared for unexpected guests drop by regularly.

3. The Raised Patio
Rather than keeping yourself at ground level, raise yourself up with an elevated platform. Get a bit of height in your life with a patio that’s lifted up by the construction of a timber platform; even a couple of inches can change your perspective on your garden. By adding some sunken lighting the ambience of your raised deck will be increased multi-fold and you’ll feel positively regal as master (or mistress) of everything you survey.

4. The Sunken Garden
Don’t want the height? Then go the other way and opt for a sunken garden. A spot of digging will be involved, but you can outsource the work to a professional company or hire a bobcat and do it yourself. A word of warning though: don’t go too deep or you’ll need to shore up the walls! Or if you already have a swimming pool, it’s easy to convert it to a design that’s limited only by your imagination. Be sure to incorporate pots of hanging ferns and lichen to get that old world feel.

5. The Fire Pit
Snuggle up with a loved one on a low seated sofa while the beautifully warm fire crackles away. For a truly romantic evening, regardless of the season, break out the toasting forks and marshmallows, and don’t forget the hot chocolate!

Get excited and inspired – leave a comment below to tell us about your dream garden now.

What will be your occasion plans?

COM
My friends and I are fond of discussing ideas about occasions such as birthdays, debuts, and weddings. We get excited whenever we throw on the table many interesting ideas on decorations, lights, and giveaways. In addition, this came true when my college friend asked for my help for his wedding so I immediately gathered my friends and all agreed to help the couple. It is not an easy task, definitely.
photo is not mine
There are many things to consider in coming up with a theme for the event, but those three mentioned above are the main concerns. We also want to leave an impression that we can organize the event well. We love to make every occasion a good and memorable one.

The couple should decide the theme. It can be a garden theme, fantasy, travel, and many more themes to choose. Through the final theme, decorations and lights are the next things to be considered. We want to make sure that the decorations would awe the guests and the couple too.  The perfect thing for the décor and lights would be a DIY type. This could save up the expenses and the desired designs will be attainable also.

We really put emphasis on the lights, especially if the event is scheduled on a nighttime. A DIY (Do It Yourself) light will be perfect to showcase our talents for the celebration. For the DIY lights (for the table), we gathered empty tin cans then we cleaned it. Next step is to fill the cans with water and freeze them. When the freezing is done, patterns can be created with nail holes. Put the tea light candle or the bigger ones that will fit inside the tin lanterns and light them up. There you go! A tin can lantern for your guests to gaze at the table. Just like those bright lights that I have seen at ChristmasLightsEtc.com that makes me want to stare at it all night. The lights are a perfect sight at a garden celebration during the night. Surely, the guests will love that they attended your event!

Roof and loft insulation - a beginner’s guide

14
COM
Photo is not mine
Insulating a loft or roof is very beneficial when it comes to retaining heat in a home. As an example, around 25% of the heat generated in a property can be lost through a loft or roof because of a lack of insulation. Other advantages of roof and loft insulation are its longevity (it can be effective for several decades), and the fact that it doesn't necessarily require an expert to install it.  You will want to make sure your roof is in tip top shape before putting down any insulation.  If you have any cracks or leaks in your roof you will want to get them repaired by Art Construction before you start putting down any insulation.

There are varieties of different ways that a loft or roof can be insulated, and the best option will often be determined by basic practicalities such as ease of access.

Mineral Wool Insulation

When there are no issues with the joists in your loft, or any problems with damp, laying down mineral wool is a simple, straightforward method of insulation. The mineral wool is laid in rolls, and firstly installed between the joists. The joists are then covered at right angles by another layer to ensure that the insulation is at the correct depth.

Loose-Fill Insulation

You may be unable to lay down matting or mineral wool consistently, because of the dimensions of your loft, or because of various obstructions. In this scenario, loose-fill insulation is a good solution. This type of insulation is made up of a mix of cellulose fibre, mineral wool, cork granules and vermiculite. This combination is then placed in between the joists in your loft. A professional should be employed if you are in any doubt regarding the depth of the insulation - and especially if the joists have to be adjusted so that the insulation is as deep as it should be.

Blown Insulation
When insulation is difficult because of access issues, then mineral wool and loose-fill insulation will not be a suitable option. Blown insulation, on the other hand, will be. Blown insulation will, however, require the services of a professional, and will involve fire-retardant material being blown into the areas that require insulation. The insulation material itself will typically consist of mineral wool or cellulose fiber. The whole process should take no longer than several hours.

Insulation For A Loft That's Lived In

If your loft is designed to be lived in then insulation can be quite involved. You can choose to have the roof insulated instead of the floor, which can be done via rigid insulation boards. These should be cut to the right dimensions so that they can easily fit between the rafters in your loft. Covering the insulation boards with insulated plasterboard is advisable, as this will enhance the insulation properties in your loft.

For floor insulation, either the floor can be raised and mineral wool placed under the new floor level, or you can insulate, using mineral wool, between the joists. In the case of the latter, insulation boards can then be put over the mineral wool insulation. Wooden boards should then be placed on top of the insulation boards. The mineral wool also shouldn't be too compacted, as its effectiveness will be reduced.

Flat Roofs

Flat roofs should ideally be insulated somewhat differently, compared to a non-flat roof. There are two main ways of achieving this. A stiff insulation board can either be added to a roof's existing waterproof layer. Or, concerning a timber roof, the insulation board can be added on the roof's surface when a fresh weatherproof layer has been added above the insulation. It is advisable to have any insulation work carried out at the time the roof is replaced. Also, Building Regulations have to be complied with when a flat roof is replaced, and that means it will have to be insulated.

Damp, Pipes And Water Tank Issues

If you have damp in your loft, insulation could exacerbate the problem. Solving any issues with damp should be done before you have your loft insulated, as insulation will make your loft cooler and existing damp conditions will only deteriorate. Any pipes and water tanks in the loft should also be insulated. It will also be a good idea to insulate the loft hatch, too, so as to prevent draughts.

Sashay Boutique Ruffle Scarf

COM
When I noticed that my MIL was knitting a new scarf design, I was very intrigue by what was it and what kind was it as well. I have not knitted since I got back from my 3 months vacation to the Philippines. Therefore, knitting a new pattern is just what I wanted to do, a new challenge for me. If not busy on blogging, I knit and I’ve knitted my whole family in the Philippines all their Christmas stockings that I hope they put up last year’s Christmas as I’ve spent too much time and effort in order to finish them all.

Anyways, this one is new to knit a Sashay Boutique Ruffle Scarf. The yarn I’m using is different and the pattern is quite the same, since I’ll only be knitting all the time.

It took me only 3 hours to finish the first scarf and then brought another color so I could have at least 2 different colors but the same ruffle scarf.

Do it yourself is what my husband does whenever he has plans on fixing some parts of the house as well as in our very spacious backyard. I supposed it was the cheapest and handpicked way we can do to redecorate our home without spending a fortune to pay a professional do it and with some knowledge, he have, as well as learning in the information he gets online and researching.

For instance, he did fix our home the one we are living now with the help of an online research. Although he went to a vocational school for a year to learn carpentry, he still needs to learn more about renovating a house. He did it by himself, also with help from one of his sisters. It takes months eventually as he didn’t work for it all the time, but in the end he fixed the house, insulated the wall, put more concrete to have an even floor and even puts molding to make the house livable again.

Now, because of the online research we are living in this home. Very nice and everyone is very impressed of the good job he did. They thought it was impossible to spend a little money and do-it-yourself ways on the house, I believe they were wrong. If one desires to work on something and research more about the best quality or ways they can do it would be possible for them to make things done, and you will learn More about it as well.
