Island Hopping 2017with the In-Laws…

0
COM

This would be our second time to go on an Island Hopping at Samar Island in Davao City. I’m static as this time everyone who hasn’t come along last 2007 finally has the chance to come and join.

Anyways, it was after the wedding when everyone gets ready for an hour and a half drive to Davao City. Of course, everyone is very tired of the Big Event (our Renewal), however, we have to geared up to be able to be at our destination on time. We already paid half part of the fee, so we need to make sure that we spent most of our time in the boat to visit these islands and to explore.

Called mother dear and through her, everyone back home is set. Everyone’s up and we headed our way. It was a fun road trip, shows what Filipino’s life behind all those beautiful spots and sceneries as we passed them by. And every country has own sad side which is “poverty”. Nevertheless, that didn’t affect us, as that’s what life is all about.

After all, those traffic and mini stopover, we finally arrived in our target, we need to finish some registrations as it is mandated to register all names in the logbook and walk towards the boat. Along with my in-laws, they were the spotlight of everyone’s eyes. I’m sure they will be fine in Davao as it’s the safest City in the Philippines; however, we didn’t rely on it and make sure that they feel secure.

Walked towards the big boat in which everyone is amazed, we didn’t know that it was that big for everyone. I don’t think there were 30 or more of us riding. The whole family is complete along with each immediate family.

I’m very confident with the WIND AND WAVE DAVAO; so far they never seem to fail me. They have packages and island hopping prices online if in any case, you wanted to plan for a trip.

We tried to get parasailing services that day, unfortunately, since we went during the weekend the parasailing services and the scuba diving were fully booked that day. If I should have known, I should have told them before when I was on the phone with them that we will get these services. And so, everyone was thwarted of not being able to do it. Scuba Diving I think they said something about being there earlier than expected because of some simple and quick training someone needs to do. Again, we don’t want to miss everything so we passed those services and just proceeded with the Island hopping the entire day.

It was indeed a long day, stopped by most of the islands in the itinerary we did boodle fight (not the kind that you’re hurting each other, it’s another term of eating together with all the food laid on a banana leaf).

Everyone in the boat enjoyed the tour, amazed and creates more memories to cherish. And we did lots of swimming that most of us were very tired afterward.

When we have a chance to go visit the Philippines again, we will definitely going to do Island Hopping again.

The Day of the Wedding….

0
COM

Two days before the wedding, I wasn’t a stress as most brides are. Thought I have this thinking, however, I’m confident that everything goes well planned and smooth. The night before the big day, we were just at the hotel resting for the next day.

Dined-out elsewhere with Kuya Rito and Ate Lynlyn, went to a place (I don’t remember that name) got a few drinks and stayed a little bit late.

Morning comes, and everyone is getting ready. I have no clue that I have to feed my makeup crew, the photographer crew and all. It was not in the budget, but I still ended up buying their meals. It was not a big of a deal provided that I have an idea about this other things.

Anyways, everyone is busy… cleaning up themselves, getting ready, and wearing the dress they have for that day. The makeup screw was also busy with the bridesmaid, groomsmen, and to all the major sponsors.

I was calm with everything, makeup, pictorial and all. I just want this day to be memorable. There were bad choices too, but I would rather not have it stated here instead.

At the Church, everything seems to be perfect, we have pictures taken. However one thing that I never have taken is with our children and my parents. It was already being chaotic during that scene as everyone is getting busy preparing to leave the church. Oh yeah!! It is not cool to make things rush, because someone has to use the Church in that certain time.

At the Reception, it was at Venue 88.. The place was magnificent. Just what I expected, I love it. The Decoration and arrangement is something I would say they are giving their customer a highly satisfaction.

One thing, I never like about the place is their hotel. YES! It is free 1 night complimentary stay, but my review is VERY POOR. I found lots of ants in the wall, the toilet water is broke (someone has to come and fixed it and it was during y day) the curtains are dirty, walls are even dirty. I mean, how they can have this opened and let some VIP people stayed when their rooms are not cleaned.

I took some pictures to make sure that it is taken care of, at least for the next person who will pay to stay in that room.

The Mass is brilliant, the photos are amazing, and everyone seems to be very happy and excited. Reception is memorable, have both my parents gave their word of advice as well as my mother’s words through her famous way of doing it is my singing to us.

The night ended up with full of smiles and excitement. We did all have a great job, though there are some flaws along the way, still it didn’t hinders me to frown at least one minute during our Special Day.

For everyone who has been there, who helped and make a part of our Special Day, you know who you are, and you will truly appreciate. Thank you very much.

Pre-Nuptial Photo shoots…

COM

It went well… though we have the hectic schedule for the whole day; it turned out to be perfect. Our amazing photographer is very nice and cool, at the same time very understanding and patient. My husband and I were very thankful for him and his crew for the patients and for putting up with our schedule. In which, every photographer should be.

The first plot that we picked, that we wanted to shoot just closed by the time we arrived. No matter how and what we do, they never let us in.

The photographer decided to just find a different spot. He drove along the highway, to find an empty place where there are trees behind and after a mile of driving he found a perfect spot.

There should be more than just one outfit, but I decided to just end it and as the sun goes down it was not the perfect lightning to get a great photo.

I never liked acting at all, while doing the photo shoot; I got this awkward feeling in my stomach wishing it was already over.

After a not so long photo shoot, we wrapped it up.

It’s been a year….

COM

In a few hours from now, my youngest son, my sister and her son are all flying to an International flight to the Philippines. This kind of vacation is the soonest that I’ve ever gone. I normally planned of going for a long vacation in the Philippines for about 3-4 years from the last time that we visit, because I have to save money for the fare, I have to make sure that when I also come home. I have the money to use. It would be awesome to have a save money to wander around and visit places that I’ve never been visited before, and it would also be fun if you have money to buy and do stuffs.

But this year is different from the previous years I planned. The excitement of me coming home to see my parents has changed. I’m thrilled to be with my Papa and spend time with my siblings but the feeling of emptiness and missing someone that you really wish to see when you get home is beyond absurd.

Things will never be the same anymore, no matter what I do, whenever I come home there will always be someone who is missing. Yet, sooner or later things will never be like it used too, but I’m still grateful that in spite of everything, I will have one Parent to look forward too.

One year and I feel like I'm don't want to think about it...

It’s been a year already?! Yes, without thinking that time flies so fast, it will be a year tomorrow since we have our Church Wedding in front of our beloved. It’s a renewal of our vows and this time, with the sealed of GOD, honored by  a Priest, my whole Family and relatives as well as my husband’s family together in one day. It is perfect! I don’t need a very expensive wedding, though I wish I could, but I would prefer to have it more fun, memorable and everyone will never ever forget that day. And I am very VERY happy that everyone is there to witness our renewals.

It’s funny that I have already written a blog about after one year, yet I haven’t been sharing about the past memories. Maybe I’m holding back into something that until now, which I tried, I’m still in denial. Something I am not sure to look forward too, the day that I feared the most.  What is it? It will be in my next blog. But for now, I just like to mention it here about it….

Happy weekend everyone!!!

Preparing for the Church Wedding

0
COM

Is not easier than you think.....

Wedding preparation is not as easy as we think it is. Also it depends on how mysterious or simple your Day would be to remember. I choose mine to be simple yet elegant. I don’t need to spend too much over something as long as the memory remains about the wedding is what I thought the first time, I planned our 9 years.

The date we wanted is never going to happen, because our Civil Wedding Date was September and we need to be back in the U.S.A before that due to the upcoming school. Also, I need to attend to my niece’s schooling application so she will be able to get into the school without repeating Junior High School.

Anyways, I have already gathered the requirements, my Mother and our Family Friend assisted as well to submit them and to be able for me to get a chance to have a Couples Seminar and Confession with the Priest.

All I need to do when I went to the convent is to sign and submit as well as to finalize the date and of course they need fees for these transactions.  The Sponsors are all set; thanks to my Mother’s Friend list and newly found friends everything was all smooth.

I make sure to have a reception that would cater the exclusive counts I wanted for our wedding. Yes! I don’t like to have a very huge crowd as well. I want it simple, memorable and elegant. While confirming the entire list in my entourage and my major Sponsors I was also busy preparing my own Wedding Invitation.

I have all equipment ready and picked in the US and all I need to do is to print the final list and to decorate a little. Everything is set, from the Venue, to the Time of the Event up to the distribution of the Wedding Invitations. I have prepared it less stress. Of course, I’m grateful for the help of my family to make it even quicker.

Mother’s Day without your Mother on Earth

COM

Losing someone, or saying your Goodbyes are the hardest thing to do as always, especially, when it is your Mother. No matter how are we going to say and take it, still it is so heavy to carry in our hearts.  We are hurting, to accept that fact that our Mama Lilia will no longer (in flesh) be with us. However, we have faith that someday we will see each other again.

The day that our Mama Lilia bid goodbye, was the hardest thing my family and I had. There are so many questions we need an answers. Things we could have done. Dreams planned with her, were all gone when that day came. Things were so fast, even she could not say her goodbye.

Now occasions like Mother’s Day is so hard to accept, she is no longer here. And there will be no Mother or Mama my siblings and I will greet or call to tell her how much we truly love her.  To remind her how grateful we are of the love, caring and sacrifices she did for us, so we would not be able to experience the poor life she did while growing up.

I guess, heaven probably needs more Mother than us. After the time we spent together and after that last kiss she gave me. I’m not content with the time we spent together, but I presume to accept that reality.

It is very hard to loss a Mother. Mama Inday will never be replaced in our hearts and will never be forgotten, however her legacy will continue.

This Sunday will be Mother’s Day. Please, please do not take for granted to go see your Mother, Mom, Nanay, Ina or Mama. Whatever you call the first woman in your life. Treasure the moments you have with her, forgive and spend more time and create more new memories.

For one day, when her time is up and we don’t know if we are ready to accept that day or not. You will miss her. And maybe that time, when she is ready to leave because she knew that her children will be fine without here. You will tell yourself that even though it is not enough, you did your BEST to be with her. To show to her the love she needs to feel before letting go.

I have to stop writing this article because I could not stop my tears from falling while remembering all the things I can share with my Mama Lily.

To ALL Mothers all over the world, may you have a Beautiful Mother’s Day!

Opening the Balikbayan Boxes

COM
Before we arrived in Gensan for our 2 months vacation, the 3 boxes that I have shipped before were already been sitting there for at least months. I’m glad they didn’t opened it yet as I need to figured out who things belongs too.

Of course, they seat on it or put stuff on top of it, but it is fine because I see no damage nor tear in the box that would trigger the rats or insects to stay and eat the items that was in it.

It was very nice to see that the box inspite of the fact that it doesn’t look as brand new due to that lifting and stocking, it is fully intact and no tear or whatsoever. I wrapped the boxes with tape as much as I can to prevent from getting wet as well. That’s the best thing to do. For something that would travel for 2 months and a half and to ensure that all your stuff is not broken, or opened or damage. We need to make sure the way we packed our stuff as well.

It was fun to opened the boxes, I make sure that every single one of the family, friends and relatives will be able to received gift from my family. They even have more than expected.

I am not sure if I was able to grabbed a quick photo of what the boxes looked like before we opened it. I choose the day and time when there was less people in the house so it wouldn’t be too much chaotic.

Warning: If you put glass into your box, please make sure that you have it wrapped with some bubble wrap or clothes. You don’t want to end up just like what I experienced.

Other than that, my experience and the joy to see every single one of my family is inevitable. The joy to give and to share my blessings to others.

Philippines Vacation 2017

After 4 years of not being able to visit and see my family in person. The day has finally come that my boys and I will once again spend time with them. The most important part is that my Mama and Papa will be picking us up at the International Airport on the day we landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, along with my sister and her children and his brother in law who is kind enough to pick us up. It would be very difficult for everyone if we didn’t have his car.

photo not mine

It was both our first time to see them in the waiting area and us seeing them waiting for us. The feeling is extraordinary, I don’t want to be corny and so I don’t even remember much because of the excitement.

It took at least an hour drive back to my sister’s place and after all the long travel we have finally home. However, because of the time difference, the 12am will be 12pm in Eastern Time and so everyone is still wide awake. I’m surprised that both our parents were awake until 3 in the morning, they usually asleep or falling asleep. Their tactics was they slept the whole afternoon and before they pick us up so they’ll be able to stay up late. How sweet are they…

I’m just too excited to hand all the present I have for my mother and father and my sister and to her family. All the things that I bought was given to them as I have something waiting for my other members in the family in the balikbayan box that has arrived months ago in Gensan.

The feeling of giving is just wonderful. I’m so happy to see them loving every item that I have given. I’m glad they’ll be able to use them too.

Yes, another 4 years has come and it’s the time of the year that my family and I will visit my 1st hometown once again. This will be different this year, because we planned a wedding church will also take place.

Yes! It will be truly one busy and memorable year for all of us. Another moments that all of us will cherish.

That’s one of the reasons, why I’ not constantly online and even not publish more article as I should be. I guess, I’ll have to do all things we did when I’m back in the US.
For now, I’ll just have to make sure I enjoy every single time with my family here and to make sure that not just me, but also my boys will be closer to their cousins, Tito and Tita’s here. Make more memories with them and bond with them as they can, as 2 months will just fly like a rocket.

So for now, I will try to share a bit of pieces about our 2017 Philippines Vacation for some insights that you’ll get of what we’ve been busy with.

Frewsburg Gala Days 2017

0
COM
Another year has passed and now we are again celebrating our town’s Gala Days. It started June 14- 17, 2017, I know this because my husband mentioned that they put up the tent by the City Hall where the venue of the event is.

This year, they have the same rides and fewer booths for snacks. Although, the Gala Days were not near as much as big like those county fairs, it is enough to give pleasure to the children and adults who wish to go outside their premises and to wind up and do something.

We went Friday night, and for some reason we could’ve waited for the late hours as the sun is still way up high that everyone is extremely sweating and the brightness of the light just makes you frown all the time.

Don’t want to miss those precious moments and so the husband bought a ticket for the children to use towards the rides. Our youngest weren’t too scare to ride with his brother to a mini ferries wheel. Although, you can see a sign of shyness as they both walk towards the ride.

Next, was the train ride, then Daddy got run out of tickets and so he bought again for $10 more. My husband jokingly exclaimed “ It is so expensive to have kids.” And I replied, “ It is expensive, but it is worth every single penny.”

And so, we proceeded to the next ride which is the Carousel, The Pirate thingy [sorry I really didn’t get what it’s called] it is basically kids can climb to this net building and will end up sliding at the end. Our little one is too afraid to slide and was stocked up there with his Kuya, and so, there goes the father to the rescue. He just needs a little encouragement that everything is okay, and they both sled together.

After all the rides and all the walking, we decided to head home because it’s too hot and there’s nothing more to do as the place is not too big. Got some fried dough and munched it all the way home.

It was fun, the kids most especially, that they enjoyed the rides.

A Visit to their Great Grandma Eunice

0
COM
These photos were taken last year when we visited Grandma Eunice in a nursing home.  I’m happy that both were pretty good and behave. Because of that attitude I have given them their reward. An Oreo snack for patiently hanging out with us and for listening when we told them that they can’t run around or make a sudden loud noise, because there were also others who would like to have a quiet and peaceful place.

Since, my boys were snacking it was my chance to take a memorable picture of them with their Great Grandma Eunice. And these are just one of them. I don’t like posting pictures with others involve who doesn’t want to have their photos online. I do respect that privacy and also I have never asked for their permission so to be respectful I hid them.

Little that we know, this was the only time that we actually saw her wide awake and be able to talk with us. That’s why, I’d like to published this moment, so that it will stay online, until I’m able to keep this blog.

Goodbye Grams, Thank you for giving me a chance!

The month of December should be one of the happiest month of the year, however last year 2016 was a different from my husband’s family.

My husband’s 91 years old Grandmother whom been his second mother passed away. Things were unexpected and sudden that we will definitely remember her passing as it was on the same day as our second son’s birth date.

We still saw her that morning, and brought our children with us to see her. She didn’t look good, and while seeing her that way my heart cries silently. She’s a very brave woman, truly one of a kind. I wished I’d met her earlier so I would enjoy her awesomeness and also being spoiled on her homemade treats/goodies.

She did live a wonderful life while she was alive, she has so many devotions while she was younger and active too. Sometimes, it is very hard to accept things that happened to us. And even though we will truly miss her physically, we still can communicate with her or to our departed loved one through prayers.  Her time has come to reunite again to our Almighty God as well as to her beloved who departed this earth.

This photo was taken by my son [Dodong] while we are at the funeral. We got there early, but due to the bad weather the funeral became an exclusive since there are people who didn’t make it to see her on her last day.

It was a very nice Lutheran Service, we did have a blessing or service and say our last Goodbye to her.

I’m grateful to have to call her my Grandma too, I will never forget the first day of our meeting. She’s always with us whenever we are celebrations. However, this year it would be different not only for my family, but for the rest of her family as well.

Troy’s International Flight back to the Philippines

0
COM
The day has finally come for Troy to go back to the Philippines. He’s staying here for almost 9 months to acquire and have a legal residency without abandoning it has finally settled and now, he can legally go back in the Philippines and stay outside the USA for two years without any problems in the future.

Though, we are still waiting for his green card to arrive, according to the Immigration Officer the last time we went there was November 21st and only 30 days it will arrive in the mail. It’s much faster now because it is just a correction.

So, I’ll be able to bring the Card with me when we visit back home next year. However, I am not talking about next year, let’s go back to what would be the activity for this day.

Early in the morning around 4:30am, I woke myself up in order to have enough time to get ready as well as the kids. It’s better to be an hour awake rather than rushing because we are running out of time.

We have to travel for at least 2 hours [actually only 1 and half hour] but we don’t want to rush and for the reason we do have a bad weather forecast that will happen that day.
Everyone is ready and all we need to buckle up for the long and cold ride. We need to use the car because there is some issue with the van that we don’t want to take the risk of breaking it down on the road and we will be giving us a headache.

We manage to get to the airport safe and sound, no snow storm, but it is getting pretty cold. We were wondering if there will be snow along the way but thank God, nada!

Of course, after Troy checked-in we decided to wait for a little while, remind him of what would be his Terminal and Gate number and to listen very carefully to that announcement as there might be some changes. Especially when they forecast of a storm that day.
It’s time for him to go in the departure area so he will have enough time to look for his gate and get rest and ready for the long flight. Of course, one last time picture before Troy’s departs in December of 2016.
When we saw that things are okay, we headed back home and of course the storm started and from a 45 minute drive back home, it took us an hour because of the heavy snows. Good to be home in one piece and things are a little bit odd now that Troy is gone.

And while everyone is resting, I’m on my computer just browsing around and came across on the website about m-audio fast track pro. I have no idea about this item that much, while reading all the way, it gives me some information I might be needing in the future to share.

A Few Family Tips to Help Stay on Top of the Housework

0
COM
When you have kids, you probably feel pressured to focus on them every second on the day. However, when your house and other parts of your life begin to suffer, you are not really setting the best example for your children. Instead of allowing the house to transmute into a prodigious mess, get organized and enlist the help of your family.

Start Now

The hardest part about cleaning the house is often the first step. Take a look around you to see what you can do right now; you don't necessarily need to begin a huge project. Instead, put the old mail in a bin, wash the dishes in the sink or put away the toys lying in the den room. Reminding yourself of how easy some tasks are can motivate you to tackle the more overwhelming projects.

photo not mine
Set a Space for Your Kids

You may feel as though cleaning is impossible because of your kids. They make a mess as soon as you clean a room, or you're constantly watching to ensure that they do not hurt themselves. A playpen or a play yard can help to resolve this issue. They can busy themselves in this space while you take care of the housework. This tip also helps kids to learn how to play by themselves, which frees up more time for you to clean.

Schedule Time

Constantly trying to fit cleanly in amidst appointments, play-dates, meals and other obligations is stressful. Set aside time each day or week to specifically focus on cleaning. Make this period of the day a quiet play period for your children. If your kids still take naps, use those moments to address the housework.

Prioritize the Tasks

Leaving a few toys out of their bins is not as big of a problem as letting mold grow in the basement or not cleaning the stains out of the carpet immediately. Recognize that your house might not be perfect, but you can make it a clean and healthy environment by choosing to focus on the most important household tasks.

Relax and Clean

You probably wonder how cleaning could ever feel like relaxing. As you are wiping down the kitchen or sweeping up the living room, turn on your favorite music or television show and sip a glass of wine. You may eventually begin to appreciate these moments that you have to yourself.

Make Less of a Mess

The less messy your house is, the less you have to clean. While trying out a new recipe that requires many tools and ingredients sounds tempting, save it for the weekend when your partner is home to help with the cleaning. Teach your children to put their belongings away as soon as they are finished with them. Showing your kids how to clean their own messes means that you have more people to help out.

Assign Responsibilities

Whether you work or stay at home with the kids all day, you should not be the only person in the house responsible for cleaning. Speak with your partner about how you can better divide up responsibilities. Also, determine which chores your kids will tackle. Even young children can help with tasks as simple as dusting a table or putting their clothes in the hamper. You may want to start offering rewards when chores are completed a certain number of times per week.

Staying on top of the housework might seem frustrating right now. However, when you start to get into a routine, you will likely find that a clean and tidy house actually begins to eliminate some of your stress.

Five Simple Strategies That Will Help You Develop Healthier Eating Patterns

10
COM
These days, more and more people are realizing the integral role that eating well plays in facilitating optimal mental and physical health. However, many individuals lack basic information regarding the strategies they should implement to optimize their eating habits. If this is your problem, this article is the solution. You can use some or all of the following strategies to optimize your eating patterns now:

1. Keep A Food Journal.

One of the best ways to ensure that you develop healthy eating patterns is by monitoring your daily food intake. You can accomplish this objective through the use of a food journal. These days, many people like to utilize online food journals such as those found at www.cronometer.com. This journal empowers you to record the foods you eat each day so you can then analyze your caloric intake. Cronometer also enables you to check your micronutrient/micronutrient ratios to see if you're attaining the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients necessary for your body to function optimally.

2. Go Vegan.

If you're serious about developing eating habits that will facilitate optimal health, consider the value of going vegan. Many nutritionists and doctors agree that eating a plant-based diet can help promote mood stability while also decreasing your susceptibility to numerous debilitating diseases like cancer, heart disease, obesity, and depression. While many people think going vegan is difficult, it doesn't have to be. The internet makes it easy by providing the online readers with thousands and thousands of delicious, nutritious recipes they can begin incorporating into their lifestyle. Also, companies like HamptonCreek feature YouTube channels with vegan recipes, including stuffed mushrooms.

3. Try Juicing.

Juicing is another wonderful health strategy to incorporate into your lifestyle for the purpose of health optimization. This methodology is effective in ensuring that your body is continually flooded with a wide range of life-giving vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. You can make delicious juices out of a wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables, some of which include:

• apples
• carrots
• spinach
• oranges
• blueberries
• arugula
• lemon
• zucchini
• cucumber

4. Prepare Your Own Meals.

In general, the foods that are served in restaurants are full of fat, sugar, and numerous other additives and preservatives that adversely impact your health. Oftentimes, it is difficult to attain clear, accurate information regarding what substances are going into the food that you eat when you go out. As such, it's a good idea to get in the habit of preparing your own meals. The Internet makes the meal preparation process simple by providing you with thousands of simple, nutritious recipes to select from.

5. Quit Dieting.

Individuals who really want to make healthy eating a lifestyle should kick dieting to the curb. As many food experts know, roughly 90% of diets fail because most people will not stick to the typical rigid rules and regulations they tend to incorporate. Instead of trying to start a diet to lose a few pounds quickly, learn how to make consuming nutritious, delicious foods a part of your daily regimen. This will help facilitate weight loss and/or weight management while also generating several other health outcomes, including lowered blood pressure and enhanced functioning of the cardiovascular system.

Don't Delay: Start Eating Healthy Today!

People who are serious about getting healthy should know that implementing a game plan is one of the best ways to make good eating habits a permanent part of their lifestyle. To ensure that you can get on the path to optimized wellness right now, start implementing some or all of the strategies listed for you in this article!

Goodies all the way from Japan

COM
These goodies are just one of those goodies my dear Janice Adams and her family sent us all the way from Japan. This one is actually a surprised package, she never mentioned about this, but I was surprised to see more than I thought.

I was only thinking of another flavor of KITKAT and when I went to the post office and saw the big and heavy box I was truly thrilled. One totally sweet and kind cousin.

Here are all of them, of course the KITKAT is gone first, but some of the goodies are still here. I can’t wait to cook and use them and enjoy what she sent us.
