New things in the new house

Growing up and living with your parent’s house together with the rest of the member, you would not know what is going on about furnaces. I never know anything until I was married and move in with my loving husband in his new house. Another thing also, where I came from furnaces doesn’t exists. We have warm weather so; we need an air-conditioned house to cool-off from the humidity.

Anyways, while being new to this furnace, I have to ask my partner what the furnace does. How to operate Calgaryfurnace without destroying the neither furnace nor end up getting high bills. I am glad it wasn’t as hard as I thought. It was simple, quick and easy to remember.

It’s nice to learn new things into the different culture and country. I wasn’t aware of so many things, especially about new furnaces or appliances in our home. Where I came from we usually don’t have all this equipment. There is also another thing that I am aware. It’s the hot water; again we never have hot water directly in our faucets.

If we need some, we usually boiled them in our stove and dump it in a big container together with the cold water, in order to get a luke warm water for a bath. Here, in the US of A there should be hot water that goes with the cold water. I simply try using the cold water and I kid you not, it is like very cold that gives you chills and even hurts your skin. It feels like someone took water out from a freezer. It is funny when you remembered those new things. Again, learning about more about hot water tanks Calgary is what I did the first week I was in this country. And from that time, I still asked my husband for so many things. Things that are new to me and I make sure I learn from it.

Feels weird to those who haven’t experienced the innovations from one country to the other, something an ordinary person would wonder

  2. I always find other countries cultures interesting. I lived in Europe for 3 years and really learned a lot about many things. It is funny as Americans we get used to turning on the water and having it hot or cold; while other countries don't.

  3. Wow I bet its a big change then, our home does not have a furnace. We have a propane heater on the wall, and a couple heaters around our house. It keeps our bills lower in the winter this way. The propane heater does not need electricity at all! I couldn't ever imagine not having hot water either or having to boil it.

  5. I can't even get county shock. I never ever leave my little town. I wish I could, but too much change would be hard.

  6. Cultural differences can be hard to understand at first. You sound like you are doing a very good job getting used to the new culture!

  7. This reminds me of my high school trip to France and my first exposure to a bidet. I had no idea what it was or how to use it.

I love learning about your culture through your posts. I find it interesting to find the things I am so used to that others do not have. When you do not have it and you are not used to it, it never fazes you, I am not sure I could go without hot and cold water now, lol. I have been spoiled.

  12. I can relate to you, back then in our homeland we don't normally need hot water because summer is longer season than cold days. :)
