Misa Del Gallo has begun.

Traditionally in the Philippines and some other countries we have Misa Del Gallo every 16th day of December. A morning mass that will starts at 4:30am and ends at 5:30am for about 9 mornings. It is a sacrifice we catholic people do until the last day of it which is on the 24th of December. Churches in the whole country is utterly full and some who can’t get inside the church sacrifices themselves to stay outside or near the House of God and makes sure that they still hears the Eucharist/ Mass. Some go jointly with the whole family; others go along with their friends too. Knowing that if you have wholly attended the 9 morning Mass you can make 3 wishes and within a year with that, your wish will positively be granted. Of course, we have a stronger faith in God as well, and things we asked from Him unquestionably come true. Trust me; I can prove that as it happened to me many times already

I almost overlook about it, not until a friend of mine showed up online through her mobile and out of inquisitiveness why she wakes up that early, she did told me that she’s awake that early for the Misa Del Gallo. If I was in the Philippines right now, perhaps I’ll be doing the same thing as she did now. And so, Misa Del Gallo has begun in the Philippines and I just missed it or I shall say one of the Traditions that I’ll undoubtedly missing there.

Surely, I’ll be missing those things I usually do when I was there. Optimistically someday, I’ll be able to use that tradition that I once grew up with, in spite of the fact that I’m totally here in a different world.

So, for those who wake up and begun their 9 morning masses, continue doing it, and pray with faith with God. If that one wish is really meant for you, HE who knows everything will undoubtedly give it to you

And after the mass, other choices to go home for some sleep, get ready to work, others decides to stay and have their merienda outside the Church, from the stores who caters with a delicious deserts and a hot cocoa.

As I said, I’ll almost certainly miss all of these. Subsequently, less than 10 days from now on will be the Christmas Day.

i totally agree with you, Novs. this is one tradition that I truly miss. If I knew that we can get 3 wishes if we complete the entire 9-day, I could've wished for 2 more. Anyway, my one and only wish did come true!

    >>>True, there is nothing more than the Traditions we have and the way we celebrate our Holidays, we give meaning to it, even if we don't have presents to open nor delicious and many foods on the table, as long as everyone is having fun and the spirit of christmas is within oneself.

    >>>I can remember i was so lazy to get up that early every day and hoping that di na lang nko continue, pero when i remembered nga i made a wish when i was in HS then it came true without thinking nga mao na diay tong akong na-wish, it did happened... and since i'm eager to get and anticipates that someday, i'll be happier... i promised to myself and completed the 9 morning masses, with faith in it... it actually came true... maybe it's the matter on how you believe and how strong your faith is diba? you should try it...

thanks for the constant visit too, really appreciates it as well... if you have time, you can visit me that often...

    >>> as I have observed Jacy, all my three wishes during those times did come true, and i continue doing it until recently, because i don't know the schedule of misa del gallo here, and i don't want to wake my hubby that early as i need him to send me to the church and pick me up after because i do know he needs sometime to get a long rest for another long day at work...

it's difficult not to have our own car to drive coz we will be relying on our husbands. and like you said, they need their rest too!

  10. Oh, I miss simbang gabi so much! The church is just a walking distance from our house so waking up early to attend the early morning mass is not a problem. I used to complete or finish the whole 9 early morning mass. I also miss bibingka and tupig!

I miss celebrating christmas in the Philippines so much!!
