Since I am back in my Hometown together with my immediate family and my son, I had the blast New Year celebration ever after a very long time. This is what I have been missing since I moved out of my country... I just hope that after 5 years I will be able to take my husband with me and showed him the unique and long lasting celebration that is only happen in the Philippines...

The Good Taste of Leyte Hopia

After a very long years, I have finally tasted the pastry of Leyte's specialty. We call this "Hopia" a flattened bread that had a sweet caramelized stuff inside. This is the small size that my sister Gladys save for me. I am thankful for her sharing me at least two piece of this Hopia. I munched the food and it didn't took me that long to finished the whole bit.

Can't wait to eat some more, hopefully we have a way to get it here in Gensan as soon as it is freshly baked. Have you ever tried this kind of bread? If not, you should, really good to eat.

Noises I’ve missed the most

Moving to a different country means changing of the things you used to do. The noises you heard early in the morning when you wake up, the sounds of the rooster telling us that it is time to rise and shine. And the horn sound from a ‘pandesal’ vendor who’s riding on his bicycle as well as the random vehicle, yelling noises on the street.

For almost 5 and half years, I have never heard about these noises every morning, until this morning. When I woke up this morning, everything just came back to me. It feels so good to think that you are finally in your hometown.

I never thought that my son is attracted to the piano instrument, until one day we visited my friend's house and they have piano for her daughter. When the girl played the piano I saw on my son's face the excitement. He starts hitting the keys, while my friend's daughter was helping him to play some notes. That's where everything starts of his attraction to piano. Now, whenever he sees a piano, he really likes to press the keys and just randomly play notes.

One biggest catch

I did not expect to get a 40SB from searching that day. I was just randomly doing a search, and I am happy to get the result.

The Long Flight

I wasn’t expecting this very exhausting travel. I know of what might be the consequences of travelling alone with a 2 year old kid. Nevertheless, since I wanted to visit my hometown for so long, that consequence was ignored. I told myself that I will accept whatever it takes, provided that I and my son will be able to visit Philippines and get there fast and safe.

The first flight was from Buffalo, NY to JFK Airport. It was so smooth that I never had problem with my son. Gave him a fruit snacks to chew while the plane takes off and land, so his ears won’t hurt due to the change of pressure. He never complains and I was proud of my little brave man.

Heading towards departure Gate and waited for hours at JFK Airport for our next long flight, I let my son run around the huge terminal in order to exhaust him and will be able to fall asleep as long as he can during the flight. It is very effective for he did slept most of the flight. But before that happened, chasing him in the terminal is no fun at all. I have the thought of not proceeding into our destination because of the exhaustion, which thought didn’t win, instead I fight for it. There were also times he was fuzzy after a very long sleep, I figured it might be of being discomfort on his position for he wasn’t on his bed. It only takes a while then he is back to being a very good boy.

Landed at Narita Japan finally, after a 14 hours flight, I thought it will only take 1 hour for the layover but for the aircraft delay our flight schedule got affected and we had at least 2 hours delay original boarding time. I am also fine with it, for Chaos just slept for another four hours until we landed NAIA 1.

Finally, no more plane ride for a while until our next flight to General Santos City. Now, we are at my sister’s house in Laguna, bonding with her family for I missed them so bad.

I tried to keep up with everything but my body is just exhausted and I have a jet lag. I guess I have to rest more in order to adapt that time difference between the two countries.

Lastly, I am very thankful for our safe travel. God guides us all the way to our destination. And thanks to my son’s cooperation and behaviour the whole experience is best the most that don’t have a nice flight experience.

I was a Bachelor of Computer Science in one of the Universities in my hometown. I am proud to pass and earned my degree in four years. I worked in the same University as a Secretary which is not what I took for. I wasn’t a Programmer as like those successful programmers nowadays. I tried to learn more about programming, however being a Secretary of a VP isn’t as simple as you think. You do have more and higher responsibilities to handle. Therefore, I didn’t enhance my degree and totally forgotten the things I have learned.

I would like to learn again and I don’t mind on whether I have to start from the beginning. I have to make sure that when I work on my self-study, I have to make sure that I’ll have the textbooks that I will need. It would be nice to have a rent text books since, I won’t like keeping them in the house.

So many things

A few days left before our trip to the Philippines. Was going to make this all a surprise however, now that I publicize it on Facebook due to my plan of helping those people in Davao, it would no longer a surprise at all. It is funny to think that there are some people who seem not to care about the concept of my status. I’m sure everyone is happy on our vacation, or just excites to see us since they think we have “pasalubong” to give.

Anyways, now that it is no longer a surprise. We are departing on December 9, arrives in the Philippines in December 10. I have a mix emotion, for there are so many things we have to do. I just hope that hubby will be able to handle the pressure and be done. That way, when he comes along, it will be a stress free vacation.

The day of our departure is fast approaching. I haven’t done packing the stuffs we need for the 3 months vacation. I have to make sure that I don’t over-stuff the luggage for I have my son with me and it will be difficult if I take a heavy luggage with. I have to make sure that I have all the important things, so I need to write it down in order not to miss any. So far, it’s good.

The stress is overwhelming, I was thinking of the long flights and to where should I go first when we finally arrived. Maybe get rest first before heading to visit those people who are victims due to the typhoon. I did ask some fellow bloggers for some donations for the unfortunate ones. And I was thinking of buying them a canned goods or even clothes for them. I am sure there houses that are gone so people might need clothes to use. It is been four and half years since the last time I saw this two important people in my life. Now, the day gets closer and closer for me to be reunited with my parents and siblings again. I cannot wait for spend time with them and introduce my son.

I want to share with them my life experiences here, and keep up on what is going on with my family too. It is very different when you physically there. The feeling is so real and you will have enough time to keep up with each other.

Ipod Trouble

I always have trouble turning this iPod touch on. I got this during my birthday as hubby’s gift. And that was three years ago. I have no problem at first, however after the warranty expires, now the predicaments starts. I called the CS and told them what happened, but because it is no longer under warranty. I was told that they can’t replace the product.

I research online on how to troubleshoot my iPod; it says all I can is to reset the iPod whenever it won’t turn on.

That is what I did since then; however doing the same thing many times frustrates me. I even threw the poor little iPod, because it never turns on for a day. I know, doing what I did will never resolve the problem.

Today, the problem still the same, but I decided to calm myself and just keep trying.
