Take a Nampa Family Day Trip

Located just 20 miles west of Boise, Nampa, Idaho is one of the fastest-growing city in Idaho. In fact, the city’s population has grown by more than 30,000 people in the past 12 years. Nampa is now a popular vacation destination for families living in Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and California. Check out these tips for planning a daytrip in and around Nampa!

Get Historical

Celebration Park is one of the most unique daytime attractions in Nampa. This is because the park was once a wintering camp for the Paiute Indians. The Paiutes left behind unique indigenous carvings on trees and rocks. The park offers both self-guided and guided tours for tourists wanting to learn more about these unique artistic carvings.

Get Creative

Families who are interested in stimulating their artistic interests should consider paying a visit to Blue Planet Photography. This Nampa-based photography company frequently offers creative workshops and photography tours to some of the city’s most idyllic locations. Blue Planet also offers tutorials on abstract, art, creative, and landscape photography. The photography studio provides snacks and beverages to families who participate in day-long photography tours, so you do not need to worry about bringing lunch.

Get Splashed

One of the most popular kid-friendly attractions near Nampa is the Roaring Springs Waterpark. Roaring Springs holds special family nights where they offer discounts and special promotions for families who visit this outdoor waterpark. The most popular of these new attractions is the Corkscrew Cavern water slide, a 360-degree slide that allows riders to move at speeds of up to 38 feet per second.

Get Some Fresh Air

Want to spend time in nature? Nampa is home to 24 recreational parks. A popular park is Eagle Island State Park, located in Eagle, Idaho, just a short drive away from Nampa. The park is bordered by the Boise River, which offers a wide range of fly fishing opportunities. Eagle Island State Park also has a water slide, sand beach, and a picnic area that is ideal for family reunions and picnics. The park also hosts horseback riding tours, and has trails for people interested in hiking or dog walking.

Get Educated

To learn more about wildlife, visit the Idaho Aquarium and the World Center For Birds of Prey. The Idaho Aquarium is headquartered in Boise. This internationally-recognized aquarium is chock-full of interactive exhibits that are both educational and engaging. The Idaho Aquarium maintains a shark exhibit, a stingray pool, and a South American-themed tank.

  3. I can tell that Splash Park is a hit! Always is with kids. Interesting to hear that Nampa has 24 parks, you can't visit all of them even if you have a week to spend.
